New Construction Project In Connecticut Benefits From Temporary Heating To Complete Interior Work

Case Study: Construction

Location: Connecticut
Industry: Construction
Equipment: Rental Indirect Fired Heaters – 2 × 1-million BTU, trailer-mounted units

Connecticut – As the colder fall months settled in, outdoor work became increasingly challenging—especially for the construction of a multi-story building. Recognizing the risk of slowed progress and worker safety concerns, a New England contractor returned to REIC Specialty for a customized heating solution tailored to the project’s needs.

Heating for Interior Construction

Given the project’s work schedule and multi-story nature, REIC Specialty and the contractor collaborated on a strategic heating plan. They opted for a phased approach, conditioning a few floors at a time during critical interior finishing tasks. This method minimized the overall heating demand while benefiting the entire structure through residual heat spreading to untreated areas.

Customized Rental Heating Solution

To meet the project’s requirements, two trailer-mounted, 1-million BTU indirect-fired heaters were delivered just as Connecticut’s nights and mornings grew colder. The heaters were placed outside the building, with warm air delivered through temporary ducting. Each unit was dedicated to heating a separate floor, and the air was distributed evenly using temporary poly-tubing. As the contractor completed tasks such as drywall, taping, and painting, the ducting was easily redirected to heat the next floor.

Temporary and Portable Solution

Delivered in October, the portable heaters remained on-site into the early weeks of the new year, supporting the contractor through the completion of interior finishing work. The trailer-mounted heaters’ portability made them easy to reposition as needed, and their self-contained design—with built-in fuel storage—eliminated the hassle of moving external fuel tanks.

Successful Climate Control

The combination of managed interior temperatures, flexible ducting, and the ease of trailer-mounted units left the contractor highly satisfied with the project. REIC Specialty’s heating recommendations, efficient setup, and on-site service ensured the project stayed on schedule and that workers and materials were protected throughout the colder months.
